Pastry Selection
At Geo Adams, we have the capability to make products
from both puff pastry and shortcrust pastry.
All puff pastry products are made at our Spalding factory. A mix of branded and own label savoury rolls, pasties and slices use the latest puff pastry technology to create high quality products that are available in stores throughout the country.
Puff pastry manufacture is a very specialist art and, when baked, the laminations should be noticeable across the roll or pasty.
Savoury Rolls
Pork sausagemeat filling is the favourite – very few other flavours exist. Lincolnshire Pork is also a popular option, as is Cheese and Onion. Sizes range from “jumbo” (about 18 cm, or 7 inches) down to “cocktail” (about 2.5 cm, or 1 inch). The meal occasions for rolls are varied and include snacks on the hoof, lunchboxes, snacks at home and parties. They are enjoyed by people of all ages and even very young children as they are easy to eat. Newest flavours include Cornish Rolls and Cheese and Chilli Rolls, both available as 'Jumbo'.
Pasties
Cornish Pasties lead the way in sales, followed by Cheese and Onion. The puff pastry pasties made at Geo Adams are sold in stores up and down the country as Adams brand or own label.
Short-crust Pasties
Rich short-crust pastry and a tasty beef and vegetable filling is a popular combination in the Geo Adams Traditional Cornish Pasties. The distinctive shape has the crimped edge above the pasty and the meaty centre fills the pasty, offering good value. Branded and own label variants are both available from our Ruskington factory.
Slices
Familiar in most supermarkets are puff pastry-based rectangular Slices with a range of appetising fillings. Chicken is a popular variety and it is mixed in a mushroom sauce or with Tikka spices. Beef comes in a minced version with onion or as a peppered steak option. Cheese, ham, and a wide range of other flavours are available from time to time, based on current trends, offering a choice throughout the year. Slices sold to convenience stores are often eaten cold straight from the packs while twin packs taken home are usually heated up. Either way, the flavours and the pastry offer a tasty snack or part of a main meal.
